What is this section of the Science Shorts site about?

Dr. Humphreys is one of a significant number of scientists who are persons of faith. As they study the natural world, they see the fingerprints of God - not just the accumulated results of a countless number of chemical and biological chance happenings.

Since no human witnessed the beginning of the universe and no scientist can recreate it experimentally in the lab, we must resort to looking at the evidence and building a philosophical worldview on our interpretation of it.

We acknowledge that there are many sincere observers of the natural world who have come to quite different conclusions about how it started and is maintained. The main division is between those who see nature as strictly material and those who include a spiritual (non-material) dimension. There are several subcategories within these two main branches.

Science Shorts is not a site that seeks to present all the arguments to support its view. We just want our visitors to know up-front that the material in this section of the site is based on the premise that there is a purposeful and intelligent cause behind the material universe - God our Creator.

We have included this section in the site because

1. We believe that the premise that there is a purposeful intelligent cause for our existence is true.
2. Every aspect of our lives is influenced by our understanding of the purpose of the universe.
3. Many persons are genuinely interested in the interplay between the spiritual and material aspects of our own lives and the marvelously complex environment in which we spend our days.

We hope you'll read this material with an open heart as well as an open mind. May each of us find this purpose for ourselves - the Truth that liberates us.
