I read a report once on how a bank trained its staff to detect counterfeit money.

Employees were sent to a three-week long training seminar.  During the whole period of the rigorous program, not once were they permitted to handle counterfeit currency.  Day in and day out they handled genuine banknotes only.  From morning to night they counted and stacked and re-counted the notes till they were so familiar with the "feel" of real money, they would know immediately when something questionable passed through their fingers.

That technique may not work as well today, with the high level of technology available to counterfeiters.  Nevertheless, the principle still holds true when it comes to detecting lies.  If you only tell the truth, and make it your business to become acquainted with truth, lies will stand out like the proverbial sore thumb.
