Moving Beyond Matter with Christopher Shennan

Well, well!  Mom was right after all - at least partly so.

It is interesting how one generation seems to reject the values and morals of the previous one, and how often it discovers, too late, that there was some value to them, after all.

True, there are some practices of the past we are well rid.  Nevertheless, a lot of us had mothers who taught some solid moral values, like sexual abstinence before marriage, modesty, and honest dealings with others. While we may have rebelled against these when we were young, experience has taught us their value.  If we have a modicum of sense, we realize mom's advice was pretty sound.  The advent of AIDS and the scandals in government should serve as pretty strong confirmation that her way was indeed the best and safest course to follow.

So, whether it be to eat your carrots, or follow some other motherly advice, it may be a good idea to give it some serious consideration.  Mother may not always know best, but she can often come up with some mighty fine pearls of wisdom.
