Holes in the ozone layer make me think of a phrase I've heard often
enough: When someone says something like that, they are, of course, being less than complimentary. Nevertheless, it begs another question: "How many holes have developed in our own life plan; the original goals and ideals we set out with?" Perhaps we didn't indulge in too much planning, but we at least wanted to be successful, even in a modest way. If we planned to marry, we wanted to have a relationship that was solid and satisfying. Our children would be well-educated and successful in their own career choice. We wanted to be considered upright, decent citizens, with the right to hold our heads up high in the public arena. If this is true for the majority of people, how satisfied will they be at the end of life? How many holes will have developed in their moral character? Will there be too many to patch or mend? Wouldn't it be prudent to seek some help to make sure the rest of our lives do not develop too many holes?
